Medical Samples Abroad

International shipping of medical samples and biomaterials with attention to packaging, documents and route requirements.

Medical sample delivery abroad requires a preliminary check: destination country, material type, packaging, laboratory documents and carrier rules can affect whether a shipment is possible. Dobra Dostavka helps collect route details and agree on a practical scenario before the material is handed to a courier.

More about medical samples abroad

Dobra Dostavka helps arrange international delivery of medical samples, DNA tests and non-infectious biomaterials. We work with shipments for private clients, laboratories, clinics, veterinary institutions and doctors when material needs to be sent to a foreign laboratory or diagnostic service.

Before dispatch, a manager clarifies the destination country, material type, laboratory requirements, packaging format, recipient address and documents that may be needed for the route. This matters because biomaterials are shipments that require preliminary checks of import rules and customs handling.

What can be sent

  • Blood, saliva, swabs and materials for DNA tests.
  • Biopsy material, paraffin sections, tubes, slides and other samples for medical research.
  • Materials for genetic testing, screening, oncology diagnostics and complex laboratory checks.
  • Non-infectious human and animal biomaterials if they can be accepted under the rules of the destination country and carrier.

These shipments are most often needed for DNA tests, genetic services, telemedicine, complex diagnostics, oncology research, laboratory consultations abroad or ancestry/origin checks. The international delivery price can be estimated in the tariff calculator, but the final practical scenario should be confirmed with a manager.

What should be clarified before dispatch

  • Whether the destination country allows import of the specific material.
  • Whether there are special customs restrictions for analyses, biomaterials or medical samples.
  • Which documents are needed from a doctor, laboratory, clinic or veterinary specialist.
  • Which requirements apply to labeling, hermetic packaging, content description and handover timing.
  • The exact recipient laboratory address, postal code, phone number and contact person.

Documents for processing

For international supporting documents, the sender usually needs to provide information that confirms the origin and purpose of the material. The exact list depends on the country, sample type and recipient requirements.

  • A passport copy or another sender document if it is required for processing.
  • A letter from a doctor, medical institution or laboratory stating the biomaterial composition and the purpose of the analysis.
  • For animal biomaterials, a similar letter from a veterinarian or veterinary clinic.
  • Recipient laboratory details: full address, postal code, phone number, contact person and preferred receiving format.

How to prepare the material

  • The sample must be hermetically closed in its primary container.
  • Tubes, slides and containers should be protected from damage with soft padding.
  • Swabs or slides should preferably be placed in a small box with cotton wool or another protective material.
  • Tubes should be placed inside an outer container with soft padding inside.
  • DNA test swabs must be hermetically closed in plastic containers or tubes.
  • Saliva, urine or other liquid materials must be in sealed containers to prevent leakage or damage.
  • Infectious or deliberately infected materials are not accepted for shipment.

DNA tests and self-collection kits

DNA tests and self-collection kits for saliva or blood are also treated as biomaterials. General export rules for human-origin biomaterials therefore apply to them as well.

  • The shipment may relate to ancestry services, genetic research, telemedicine or laboratory diagnostics.
  • Even if the service provided its own box, the shipment should additionally be placed in marked medical packaging.
  • Several DNA tests can be sent in one shipment to one address if each test inside is separately and clearly labeled.
  • A test cannot be handed to the courier open or unprepared.

What is not accepted

  • Infectious dangerous samples.
  • Materials deliberately infected with diseases transmitted by contact.
  • Biomaterials in open, non-hermetic or damaged packaging.
  • Any shipment that may create an infection risk for courier or customs staff.

The service is suitable for private clients, clinics, laboratories and veterinary institutions when the material needs to be sent carefully, with preliminary route checks and clear communication with a manager. We also cooperate with Ukrainian laboratories, medical institutions and practicing doctors that need to send patient analyses abroad.

Final confirmation of shipment availability depends on the country, material type, carrier rules and recipient-side requirements. Dobra Dostavka therefore first collects the details, checks the route and only then agrees on the practical delivery scenario.
